In 2019 we were afforded the opportunity to visit with several quality-focused and innovative producers in Jaén Cajamarca in northern Peru. During a local competition between the coop members of La Prosperidad de Chirinos, we were impressed by the coffees presented by three individuals in particular: Mariano Peña Huertas, Juana Maria Larreategui, and Ignacio Roman Flores. This offering is comprised of selected lots from these three producers, which they have chosen to call Rayos del Sol ("sunlight").
This coffee is sparkling and crisp, with an abundance of tropical fruit. We're enjoying taste notes of passion fruit, hibiscus, and toffee with a delicate, elegant finish.
